This is a rather unconventional post for me but I wanted to share with you my love of fall, Halloween and my new found excitement for decorating my home. I think it goes without saying that I love food. And fall happens to have some of my favorite seasonal flavors – apple, pumpkin, squash, cinnamon, etc. As for where I get my love of Halloween, that’s a whole other story. Let’s just say we were known as THE house to go to in our neighborhood when I was growing up. My mom would start preparing months in advance. It took some of the little kids a few years to actually muster the courage to come to our door, even for free candy!
Pretty scary huh? I don’t know what’s scary, my mom’s face or those velcro snow boots! Minnesota Halloween’s were never warm… Anyways, I have been looking for fun little festive weekend projects to keep me busy and I came across a ton via Pinterest! If you aren’t on there/aren’t following my boards, whatchya waitin’ for?! Beware though, it is addicting! Here are some of my fave Halloween themed treats….
How cute right? Who says you can’t play with your food? Now for some pumpkin decorating fun…
Here is the result of my attempt to recreate these looks, what do you think?
I am totally addicted to DIY decor now thanks to my new found love of Pinterest and all of these ridiculously creative people out there. So this weekends DIY project was a feather wreath and thrifted candle sticks.
Here is the inspiration for the wreath
And here is mine
Here is the inspiration for the candlesticks
Here are the thrifted mismatched heinous candlesticks that I found (90 cents a piece!)….
Pretty thrifty nifty, eh? I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled posts tomorrow but don’t be surprised if you see a few more DIY projects and thrift store finds 🙂
1. Do you do DIY’s? Have you ever thrifted? Do you “get cheery with it” for the holidays?
2. Would you like to see more DIY/decor/thriting posts or should I stick to the food? Honest opinions are encouraged, you won’t hurt my feelings 🙂
